Qantas at Longreach

Longreach is the birth place of Qantas. The original hanger is a historic icon.

There is a new tourist attraction at the Qantas Museum, a Boeing 747.

It is so large and the country around Longreach so flat that the plane is a prominent landmark for miles around.

Also on site is the restored 707, Qantas' first. . . .

. . . and the shell of an old DC3.

An Outback Wedding

Kay and I flew to Longreach in western Queensland to attend nephew Scot's wedding. The ceremony was held at Rosemount, just outside Longreach.

A get together with Chin Siong and Family

In our most recent trip to Singapore, we took the opportunity to meet up once again with cousin Chin Siong and his family -

WYD in Sydney

World Youth Day has come to Sydney. Though it is primarily a religious event for the Catholics, the whole city seems to have been taken up with the festive spirit with hundreds of thousands of pilgrims in town (including the Pope of course). Below is a photo I took of some youngster boarding a bus in North Sydney, complete with a Cockerel head gear. Vive la France !

Borobudur

Anthony and I spent three days in Central Java last week. The main objective was to visit the Borobudur site but we also had the opportunity to take in other sights around Solo (Surakarta) and Jogjakarta. With the tune of Bengawan Solo ringing in my ears, I'm preparing the Powerpoint show of the visit which will be posted soon.
